Information for Schools / Institutions - HPV Vaccination Catch-up Programme

The Government has launched a one-off Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Catch-up Programme by phases starting from December 2, 2024, for female Hong Kong residents who born between 2004 and 2008, and have not been covered by the HKCIP to receive HPV catch-up vaccination.

Each of the eligible persons can receive two doses of vaccination, while immunocompromised persons have to receive three doses of vaccination (all three doses are free of charge).

First Phase – Full-time Secondary Schools

The first phase has commenced in December 2024. This phase provides free HPV catch-up vaccines to female students studying at full-time secondary schools (including the secondary section of special schools) who were in Form Five or above and registered with eHealth.

The mode of delivery for the first phase is similar to the Seasonal Influenza Vaccination School Outreach (Free of Charge) Programme. Schools would engage participating outreach vaccination teams to provide free HPV vaccines to eligible female students.

Second Phase – Local Post-secondary Institutions

The second phase has started in March 2025. This phase provides free HPV vaccination to female Hong Kong residents born between 2004 and 2008 who are currently studying at local post-secondary institutions (PSI) and are registered with eHealth.

Participating institutions could choose to provide HPV catch-up vaccination services to eligible female students at their healthcare services clinics or arrange outreach teams to provide service on campus.
