Question

I had mumps which caused swelling of my testis when I was around 16 years old. It gradually recovered after I took herbal medicine. But now I have the problem of premature ejaculation. I often ejaculate before the penetration. Would you please give me some professional advice before I go for a medical check-up?

Answer

Mumps is caused by a virus, and generally patients will recover from this illness. However, 20-30% of teenagers and adults may develop testicular inflammation with symptoms like fever and painful swollen testis. 3-17% of these people may have involvement of both testes which can cause infertility. Apart from inflammation of testis, mumps can be complicated by inflammation of pancreas, membranes covering the brain, heart muscle and joints. Currently there is no definite cure of mumps apart from medicine to help with the fever.

Premature ejaculation is a condition when the male partner ejaculates too quickly so that he or his sexual partner cannot be satisfied in the intercourse. This usually happens in men with little sexual experience, or in those bothered by anxious or guilty feelings. To overcome this problem, adopting a healthy lifestyle, learning some relaxation techniques to fight away stressful feelings, honestly talking to your partner about the situation, and seeking professional counseling and treatment when necessary can all help. Mumps will not cause premature ejaculation.
