Seasonal Influenza Vaccination

Influenza is an acute illness of the respiratory tract caused by influenza viruses. Seasonal Influenza Vaccination (SIV) is one of the effective means in preventing influenza and its complications together with reduction in influenza-associated hospitalisation and death. Given that the SIV offers protection against influenza and its complications, all members of the public, except those with known contraindications, should receive SIV annually for personal protection.

To encourage people to receive seasonal influenza vaccination, the Government provides free or subsidised seasonal influenza vaccination to the following eligible persons:

Hong Kong Residents	Service Providers
Aged 50 years or above (count by year of birth)	Family doctor¹ District Health Centre Persons with chronic illnesses: Public or private clinics¹ providing regular follow-up appointments
Aged 18 to 49 years (count by year of birth)	Persons with physical or intellectual disability who are holding valid certificate: Public or private clinics¹ providing regular follow-up appointments Family doctor¹ Persons who are CSSA recipients and have chronic illnesses: Public or private clinics¹ providing regular follow-up appointments Family doctor¹
Pregnant women	Family doctor¹ Public or private clinics for antenatal care¹
Children and adolescents aged 2 years to under 18 years (count by date of birth)	Seasonal Influenza Vaccination School Outreach Programme² Family doctor¹ Persons with chronic illnesses: Public or private clinics¹ providing regular follow-up appointment
Children aged 6 months to under 2 years (count by date of birth)	Family doctor¹ Maternal & Child Health Centres (MCHC)

¹ Applicable for doctors enrolled under Vaccination Subsidy Scheme(VSS). The doctor may impose extra fees, some doctors may not charge extra fees. If your family doctor is not enrolled under VSS, please select a VSS doctor from the following website: https://apps.hcv.gov.hk/public/en/SPS/Search

²All students from schools participating under Seasonal Influenza Vaccination School Outreach Programme, including students aged 18 years or above, irrespective of their Hong Kong resident status, are eligible to receive free or subsidised seasonal influenza vaccination under this programme.
