On 30 April 2019, the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health (DH) organised a public health exercise code-named ZIRCON in a purpose-built housing block for the elderly in Ngau Tau Kok. The exercise was aimed at strengthening the inter-departmental response and collaboration mechanism in regard to the occurrence of Legionnaires’ Disease (LD), evaluating the effectiveness of the DH’s standard operating procedures on LD and enhancing awareness among stakeholders on the prevention and control of an outbreak of LD.

Tripartite Exercise SHIELD

On 27 September 2019, a table-top exercise code-named SHIELD was conducted by the Health Commission of Guangdong Province, the Department of Health of Hong Kong, the Health Bureau of Macao and the Centres for Disease Control of the three places, together with relevant departments in Hong Kong, namely the Hospital Authority, the Hong Kong Fire Services Department, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and the Environmental Protection Department. The exercise was aimed at testing the preparedness and enhancing the capacities in the responses of the three places to Ebola virus disease.
