Introduction

To understand the health status as well as the health-related behaviours and practices of the general population of Hong Kong, the Department of Health (DH) is commissioning MOV Data Collection Center Limited to conduct the Health Behaviour Survey 2023.

 

Objectives

To collect information about the health status of the Hong Kong population, their health-related lifestyle practices (such as fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity participation and alcohol drinking) and other important health information (such as preventive health practices). Collected information will be useful to the Government for evidence-based decision making in health policy, resource allocation and provision of health services and public health programmes.

 

Target Population

This survey covers Hong Kong land-based non-institutional persons aged 15 or above. Around 2,000 households (equivalent to 4,800 persons) will be randomly selected through scientific sampling procedure for face-to-face interviews.

 

Data Collection Period and Survey Results

Fieldwork was completed in December 2023. Survey results will be announced later on.

 

Handling Collected Data

The data collected by the interviewers will only be used for research and statistical purposes. Survey results will only be released in aggregated form. All personal data and contact information will be kept strictly confidential and destroyed within 6 months after completion of the survey.
