The Scientific Committee on Vaccine Preventable Diseases recommends poultry workers, pig farmers and pig-slaughtering industry personnel to receive the influenza vaccine to protect individual and public health.
Where can I receive influenza vaccine?
Eligible staff could get a referral letter from your own Government department (such as Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Food and Environmental Hygiene Department). Please bring along the stamped referral letter issued by your Department to one of the designated General Outpatient Clinics under the Hospital Authority or District Health Centres / District Health Centre Expresses (for members only) to receive free seasonal influenza vaccination.
In Hong Kong, influenza is usually more common in periods from January to March/April and from July to August. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body. Get vaccinated early to ensure protection.
