Vaccination schedule
For initial immunization, three injections are administered subcutaneously on days 0, 7, and 30. Booster immunization can be administered at 24 months or later to maintain the immune level. For children below 3 years of age, the dose should be decreased by halve for each administration.
Recommendations
Travellers going to endemic areas in Asia or Western Pacific particularly in rural areas and staying over 30 days bear higher risk and are recommended for vaccination.
Adverse reactions
They mainly consist of local reactions showing varying degrees of induration, redness and tenderness, and systemic reactions such as evidenced by chills, headache and fever.
Contraindications
The following groups of persons are contraindicated to the vaccination :
*Suffering from severe febrile illness or other active infections
*Hypersenitivity reactions to previous vaccination
*Having neurological disorders
The following groups of persons should take special precautions :
*Pregnancy
*Immunocompromised
*History of allergic disorders
